Message from the President
The Global English Teachers Association (GETA) has grown and developed into a global association of ELT professionals since it was founded in 1995, thanks to our former presidents' commitments and all the members' concerns and dedications. GETA's main businesses include hosting an annual conference joined by scholars and practitioners from home and abroad and publishing its biannual Journal 'Studies in English Education' accredited by Korea Research Foundation.
As the 10th president of GETA, with a lot of honor and also with great responsibility, I am going to continue to push on GETA's two main businesses, focusing on the following points. For an annual conference, I'll go to great length to plan and prepare it to serve as the venue for our members to participate in with greater interest and attention, selecting the theme by reflecting what the members truly desire and need for their expertise. In addition, I will arrange the special lectures which deal with current issues in the ELT and provide the members with the opportunity to expand their horizons. Moreover, I'll try my best to attract more active participation of teachers from primary to secondary schools as well as from tertiary educational institutions by presenting them with classroom researches or demonstrations.
For another important business of GETA, publication of the journal 'Studies in English Education', I am planning to extend the number of issues to four times a year in order to meet an increasing number of contributors' needs and make it quarterly journal, starting from 2015 after the thorough preparation in 2014, in collaboration with our editing committee and board members. Besides, I am going to have the quarterly published as an e-journal in order to provide any ELT professionals with easy accessibility to the journal and to make its citation more convenient.
To make my plans to be realized, I will work together in cooperation with former presidents and our board members. But above all, I urge all the members to participate actively and show their continuous interests and supports. I do hope that all the members will grow their expertise, polish their wisdom, and develop their career, going hand in hand with GETA.
